Dragoon Mts Ranch
Horseback Riding

We'll take you through some of the most beautiful country you have ever seen, with scenery changing about every fifteen minutes. Trail rides are for all levels of experience, and are also good photographic rides. These vary in length from 2 to 4 hours in the morning and a shorter ride in the afternoon.

Challenge/Advanced Rides
Rides on more difficult trails and which are also as fast as the riders' experience permits. Riders have to be checked out in the arena and be able to demonstrate their ability to sit well and control the horse at speed. These are usually 2 hours in duration.

Cowboy Adventure Ride /
Seasonal Cattle work
Ride with one of the cowboys and help them check fence, pack salt - or gather a few cows. Available on Monday and Wednesday mornings, and usually 2-3 hours in duration.

Adventure Rides
Extended distance rides, on easy or difficult trails, both slow and fast, depending on the trail in question. In some Adventure Rides we trailer the horses to the trail head, as these are all in more remote areas. The outings take most of the day, with the riding time being anywhere from 5-7 hours. Adventure Rides differ week to week, as we want to vary the riding as much as possible, and you would have to stay at the ranch for over a month before one would repeat.

Riding Instructions
Improve your riding skills and learn how to handle your horse from a professional riding instructor.
There are group lessons (at no additional charge) on Tuesdays and Saturday morning - usually lasting 45 minutes to 1 hour
What you will learn in a group lesson:
- Proper seat/riding position in a western saddle
- Correct use of legs/hands
- The basics of sitting a trot in a western saddle
- The basics of stopping and turning your trail horse
You can also schedule a private lesson at $50 per lesson, lasting up to one hour.

PACK TRIPS
(Available late September, October, November, and March through June)

Join us on a pack trip in the rugged Dragoon Mountains, once home to the fierce Chiricahua Apache tribe. After a day's ride through their old camping and hunting grounds , we set up our camp in some picturesque canyon, and enjoy a dinner of steak, beans and all the fixin's cooked over a campfire. Later we relax under the twinkling stars and listen to the lonely howl of a coyote, and the sounds of the horses jostling each other on the picket line.

In the morning the smell of cowboy coffee and sizzling bacon wakes us, ready for another day's adventure.

This option must be booked in advance.
